SUBVERSE gathers artists who are daring to exploring raw materials and textures such as pigment, ash, cement, skin, flesh, blood, melting ice, metal, domestic objects, as well as the skin-screen textures of photographic, videographic and digital images. Such experimentations allow the creation of images we do not always understand, but which move us nonetheless beyond logic. Indeed, they delve into vital experiences of the living intertwined with deep fantasmagorical worlds, revealing the hidden violence of social narratives and ideological systems. Here, we do not ask what is reality, but we are invited to touch the unspeakable of an image, the invisible of a trauma, the fantasy of a private and social body. SUBVERSE offers art experiences beneath the seen, within the core, where silence speaks and echoes roaring images. Not outer, but inner, raw, deep and strange, where consciousness begins to change towards unlimited extensions and transformations of what we call a body, a space, a society, a memory. SUBVERSE is not a place but the inward turn to the unconscious, the intuition, and the ineffable. It is where myths, metaphors, symbols, ideologies are questioned, combined, revisited and turned into unexpected and stunning paradoxes. If the Universe is the external real for giving us scale, if the Metaverse is the constructed virtual for mirroring and extending reality, if the Multiverse is the probabilistic unreal raising questions about extended horizons, then the SUBVERSE is the essential real: that which underlies all perception. SUBVERSE gives us depth to look outward, inward, and beyond both directions—recognizing that truth may not lie in any one domain, but in the spaces between them.
