Now living and working in Beijing, Li is a contemporary abstract artist whose work has been actively followed worldwide. In contrast to the Rational paintings of the 1980s, Li's works are concerned with micro qualities, individual thoughts and feelings. Similar to a personal diary, her paintings incorporate references to natural forms but are set within a tenuous and remote visual context.
