Chen Wenbo’s contribution to the contemporary Chinese art scene belongs largely to the visual rather than the conceptual. Like Liu Wei to some extent, he works almost exclusively in very bright, very flat images that waver between representation and abstraction. But instead of concentrating primarily on visual effect, Chen Wenbo is interested in the technologies of vision.
